How Hypnosis Works
Hypnosis is a natural state of mind.
It is a state of complete physical and mental relaxation, where you can tap
into your own wisdom to improve your life.
Through hypnosis,
we can access the part of the mind that is responsible for beliefs that motivate
not only our behaviors, but also our emotional responses to situations. We can
eliminate beliefs that are sabotaging our efforts and create new ones that allow
us to transform our lives. Hypnosis is the fastest and most direct way to
access inner limitations, transform them, and in the process, unlock your
potential.
Have you ever had
the experience of daydreaming? If so, you have experienced the hypnotic state.
You may recognize that when you daydream, you are fully focused on what you are
daydreaming about. Your senses increase. Everything else around you seems to
fade into the background. You may come back from your daydream with the sound
of someone saying, “Where were you just now?”.
Hypnosis is a state
of physical and mental relaxation characterized by pin-point concentration,
enhanced awareness, and heightened suggestibility. Instead of the mind
functioning at its normal 25% concentration level, it can now function at 95%
concentration level. This allows us the opportunity to capture, harness and
utilize the unlimited potential of the subconscious mind. It is the simplest
and most efficient way to heighten motivation by programming the subconscious
mind to work in active cooperation with conscious desires.
We use
Guided
Imagery in the process which is based upon a very powerful premise – What
the mind can conceive, the body can achieve. Imagine for a moment that you are
sucking on a lemon. Does your mouth begin to salivate or pucker? This is an
example of the power of Guided Imagery. Our nervous systems do not know the
difference between real or imaged events. So, when you imagine yourself
achieving a desire through Guided Imagery, your mind will believe it is so. You
will be motivated to achieve this desire with the cooperation of your
subconscious mind.
For example, let’s
say you have a fear of flying. Through Guided Imagery, you will imagine
yourself flying, feeling relaxed, calm and confidant that everything is okay.
You would also be given direct suggestions such as, “Each and every time you
fly, you feel calm and in control.” The next time you actually do fly, your
subconscious mind will believe that you are calm and confidant when you fly, and
this will be your experience!
In this natural
state of hypnosis, your mind and body relax. Some people experience this
relaxation as a feeling of heaviness. Their body feels so heavy and relaxed
that it takes too much effort to move. Other people experience a feeling of
lightness, with a sensation of floating or drifting. Most people leave this
state feeling re-energized and renewed.
You are always
in Control. You will only accept the suggestions that are in your best
interest, that are in agreement with your moral and ethical values. You will be
aware of what’s going on around you at all times and you can open your eyes at
any time.
Alpha Triggers
I program Alpha
Triggers in all of the hypnotherapy CDs and MP3s that I create. Alpha Triggers
are used as a way to trigger the conscious mind to open the door to the
subconscious mind, with the purpose of bringing forward the healing that is
taking place due to the hypnotherapy session.
I create Bracelets
and Key chains specifically for each CD and MP3 to activate the Alpha
Triggers that are incorporated in the hypnotherapy sessions.
How the
Bracelets and Key chains Work:
I’ve programmed
Alpha Triggers into the hypnotherapy session that are included in the
Bracelets and
Key chains. Hypnotherapy attaches
to the subconscious mind. The Bracelet and contents of the Key chains are
physical and therefore attach to the conscious mind. When you look at the
Programmed Bracelet or contents of the Pocket Pouch, it triggers the conscious
mind to open the door to the subconscious mind. This opening brings forward the
healing that is taking place due to the hypnotherapy session. You will not be
consciously aware of what is occurring when you see your Bracelet or contents of
the Pocket Pouch, but the effects will take place.
Brain Activity Levels & Hypnosis
Our brain cycles
through 4 activity levels daily. The Alpha and Theta levels are excellent for
hypnosis. They are also a very natural part of our daily functioning. What
this means is that we are in hypnotizable states several times a day. It truly
is a very natural process.
Level 1: BETA
This is the level of normal daytime consciousness. It is the level of complete
consciousness, our critical thought level. We are wide awake and alert when we
are in this level.
Level 2: ALPHA
This is a level of relaxation. In this state, the subconscious mind is
available. We can bypass the critical thought level of the mind which enables
us to receive suggestions that will allow our minds to cooperate with our
conscious desires. Concentration increases from 25% to 95%. This state is
experienced when we
daydream, meditate, read a novel we’re fully engaged in, watch a movie, etc.
Everyone experiences this state immediately upon awakening and right before
drifting off to sleep. It is considered to be a state of “light trance”. Your
mind is open to hypnotic suggestions.
Level 3: THETA
This is the brain level that corresponds to light sleep. Here we experience
what is known as a “medium trance”. Hypnotic suggestions will go into the deep
subconscious. We may be less aware of what’s going on around us, but we always
remain in control.
Level 4: DELTA
This is the level of deep sleep. We experience this state for about 30 to 40
minutes every night. This is the brain activity level where our unconscious
mind gets the greatest amount of rest. Hypnotic suggestions will not be heard
at this level.
The brain cycles
through all of these levels daily. For example, when you wake up in the
morning, at the point where your mind is still hazy, you are experiencing the
alpha level. We could say that you’re in a light level of hypnosis. When
you’re fully awake and alert, you’re in the beta level. When you begin to drift
off to sleep, you’re again experiencing the alpha level. You then reach a light
state of sleep, also known as the theta level, where suggestions will reach the
deep subconscious mind. During your sleep cycle, you’ll go through a period of
very deep sleep, the delta level. |
